Evening snacks are ignorable and a very common time to have our mid-evening meal. By the way, today is the day to prepare Tapioca Vada which is high in calcium and minerals. If you taste it ones in a while, then you will never ignore to make it at the time you bought it.
Am very much eager to taste the first byte of maravalli kilangu vadai. Tapioca is otherwise called as Kilangu or Maravalli Kilangu. In common, people used to call it as maravalli kizhangu. It is rich in copper and iron. Cook this Tapioca well and add it to your diet chart. Tapioca is completely covered with protein and Vitamin K which will reveal us from muscle and bone-related problems. This is fat and cholesterol-free which helps in reducing the risk of a heart attack. It also helps in enriching red blood cells and keeps the digestion problem away.
Now… How many of you like the flavour of Tapioca in the form of Vada.
If you like our traditional South Indian flavour, then surely try out this vada right now in your kitchen. We are going to prepare it with the combination of grated tapioca, red chillies, soaked rice, chopped onions and curry leaves. It smells good by frying it in oil. Fry it in a medium flame to get cooked well with its golden brown on the top layer of it.
Let’s get started with the preparation.
Tips:
- Use freshly harvested Tapioca to get the perfect taste.
- Soak rice and dal in proper timing.
- Fry it in a medium flame to avoid over burning.
Total Time: 25 minutes
Preparing Time: 20 minutes | Cooking Time: 5 minutes
Serves: 4 members
Ingredients:
- 1 cup grated Tapioca
- ¼ cup Rice
- 1 tsp urad dal
- 1 chopped onion
- 10 red chillies
- 1 tsp anise
- Curry leaves
- Salt to taste
Preparation:
- Soak ¼ cup rice and 1 tsp urad dal for 2 hours in water.
- Later 2 hours drain the water from rice and dal.
- In a mixer jar/Grinder add rice, urad dal, red chillies, anise and grind it into a fine paste.
- Now add the grated tapioca into the grinder and make it to thick vada consistency.
- Remove the mixer from the grinder and transfer it to a bowl.
- Add the chopped onions, salt and curry leaves into the mixture.
- Place a pan and add oil to fry.
- Once the oil gets heated, start adding the vadai into it and fry it.
- Keep it in a medium flame and make it to cook well.
- Once both the sides cooked well, remove from the pan and serve it hot with coconut chatni.
- Now enjoy the flavour of Tapioca/Maravalli Kilangu in the form of Vada.
